INTRODUCTION
Phos Graphis: Ismail Hashim – A Film Biography is conceived as a feature length documentary that explores the sensibility, temperament and aesthetics of the acclaimed Malaysian photographer Ismail Hashim.
An influential artist emulated by many aspiring photographers and deemed a pioneer of hand-tinted photography, Penang’s ISMAIL HASHIM is recognised as Malaysia’s master of fine art photography.
Mixing photography, poetry, intimate conversations and music, this film is a collage of the life of an important and compelling “master” of Malaysian photography. It hopes to gain insight and present a unique perspective of his life, his body of work, his thoughts, ideas and reflection on his career.
